Stressful events like endurance running, heat, and illness cause dehydration. Dehydration creates many undesirable symptoms, such as lightheadedness, fatigue, dry mouth or skin. These symptoms are dangerous if not attended to in a timely manner. Most of the time treatment can be done through replacing electrolytes with sports drink/fluids, rest or electrolyte tablets, but sometimes these are not enough. Especially for super endurance runners, greater treatments should be sought.
One of the best treatments is to replace the lost fluids with normal saline during an in-office infusion. Some nutrients are better absorbed when given intravenously. Ask Dr. Rolnik about options available at Remedy Sports and Regenerative Medicine.
