A trigger point injection is utilized to provide myofascial pain relief when trigger points develop. Trigger points are knots that develop in muscles when muscles fail to relax – typically you can feel something firm like an olive under the skin. Sometimes deep tissue treatments or Graston can release the tension. However, if that isn’t successful a trigger point injection can be very effective. Anesthetic is injected at the specific points of pain and patients can have great relief afterwards. There are very limited side effects so ask Dr. Rolnik if this may be any option for your muscle pain.
